If you are just looking to have an area thinned this is going to be the best option. In some areas the beetle kill hasnt killed all of the trees and getting the dead ones out will help the likely hook of the living one make it. This is also the best option for areas that have become over grown. By removing a potion of the trees you allow the same amount of resources (sunlight, ground nutrition) to be used by fewer trees.

This option usually ranges from $700-$1500 an acre. Depending location, density of wood, slash disposal and reclamation preference e.g. (seeding, watershed management)
